We are pleased to let rooms to organisations whose activities are within the framework of Quaker values and are non-political. The Quaker values are to peace, justice, equality, integrity and sustainability.
A proposed booking may not be accepted if:
- The aims or policies of the Hirer or Guests are in serious conflict with Quaker principles or values.
- The Hirer or Guests have been linked to violence or incitement to hatred or violence.
- Misbehaviour has occurred during a previous hiring or at another Quaker property.
- The Hirer persistently breaches our Booking Conditions.
- A contravention of Fire or Health and Safety regulations may reasonably be anticipated.
All current legislation and regulations must be complied with during the Hire Period so as to ensure that no discrimination takes place regarding gender, race, colour, ethnicity, nationality, religion or belief, sexual orientation, disability or age. No smoking, alcohol, gambling or drugs are permitted anywhere on the Premises.
The ground floor contains a large room with benches and chairs, a smaller room with tables and chairs, two toilets and a kitchen.
In addition there is a small room upstairs.
Some folding tables are available and can be brought up from the cellar on request.
On three sides of the building there is a garden and burial ground. The whole area is secured by substantial railings and a lockable gate.
The whole of the ground floor including one of the toilets is accessible to a wheelchair user.
There is a small pay and display car park with access from King Street down the side of the Outdoor Action shop. There is currently no charge for parking after 15.00 hours or on a Saturday and Sunday. There is also on-street parking (pay and display) on Paradise Lane.
The central heating is on an automatic controller and will be set to meet you requirements. The only control accessible to users is the thermostat on the corridor. If the heating fails or timings require modification the Lettings Coordinator should be contacted.
First Aid Kit
There is a basic first aid kit by the back door in the kitchen. Please record the use of the kit in the Accident Book.
Hearing Aid Loop
The main room is equipped with a hearing loop system.
Users are welcome to use the kitchen (and kitchen equipment – electric cooker, microwave, double sink, cutlery, crockery, pans, etc.) providing it is left clean and tidy afterwards.
In the main room there are:
• Flip chart stand
• White board on stand
• Projector table and screen
N.B. There is no multi-media projector, overhead projector or slide projector.
The Meeting has no space available for storage by users of the premises.
There is no telephone on the premises. The nearest public phone box is at the corner of Paradise Lane and Fielden Street opposite Blackburn College.
The standard charge for rental of the Meeting House is £20.00 per session (morning, afternoon or evening).
If you are interested in making a booking please submit a booking form. The Meeting will consider your request at a business meeting on the next first Sunday of the month and you will be informed of the Meeting’s decision as soon as possible afterwards.
